MIAMI — A 62-year-old man stands accused of planning to meet a 15-year-old girl to pay her for sex in Miami, according to police.
Ricardo Mitchell was at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Monday night without bond, according to inmate records.
Mitchell, of Naples, connected with an undercover investigator online, “sent several explicit messages and expressed his interest in having her perform oral sex on him in exchange for $100,” and wrote “he would pay her for videos ... sexy pictures, her college tuition, and every time she got an A,” according to police.
Before the scheduled meeting, detectives conducted a felony stop and detained Mitchell, who was driving a 2020 silver Ford pick-up truck, according to police.
Mitchell had more than $1,000 in cash, erectile dysfunction medications, and the phone used during the online interactions, according to police.
Police officers arrested Mitchell at 8:05 a.m. on Saturday in Miami. Miami-Dade corrections booked him at 1:40 p.m. on Saturday at TGKCC. He appeared in court on Sunday, and a judge granted his pre-trial detention.
Mitchell faced four charges: Human trafficking a minor for the purpose of commercial sexual exploitation; traveling to meet a minor after use of a computer to lure a child; intentionally lure, solicit, seduce, or entice a child to engage in sexual conduct over a computer; and attempt to promote sexual performance by a child.
Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge William Altfield is set to preside over the case.
