Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office divers pull body out of Miami Gardens canal

BODY IN CANAL: Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office deputies and Miami Gardens police officers responded on Thursday to a report of a body in a canal.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — A team of Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office divers pulled out the body of a woman or teenage girl from a canal on Thursday in Miami Gardens.

The body was in a canal near Northwest 208 Street and 13 Court, according to Diana Delgado, a spokeswoman for the Miami Gardens Police Department.

Police officers responded shortly before 8:40 a.m. to the 1000 block of Northwest 208th Street and found “an unidentified, partially decomposed female body in the rear canal area,” according to Delgado.

“The investigation remains ongoing,” Delgado wrote in a statement. “The identity of the decedent and circumstances surrounding the incident are currently unknown.”

Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477 to remain anonymous.
