Women turn shoplifting into family affair in Doral, chief says

Surveillance video shows 2 thieves using baby stroller

DORAL, Fla. — Doral Police Chief Edwin Lopez said Arlena Menendez Perez and Raquel Azcárraga Galí recently turned shoplifting into a family affair at the Miami International Mall in Doral.

On Sunday afternoon, Menendez Perez, 39, and Azcárraga Galí, 62, used a 10-month-old baby and a stroller to steal from the Macy’s store at 1455 NW 107Ave., according to Lopez.

Macy’s loss prevention employees reported that the two women arrived shortly after 3:50 p.m. and they attempted to leave without paying about an hour later, according to the arrest report.

“The 10-month-old baby was identified as Ms. Menendez’s child,” a police officer wrote, according to the arrest report.

In all, the two women stole 20 pieces of clothing valued at more than $1,512, according to Lopez.

Police officers arrested them at 7:05 p.m. at the store. They each face charges of grand theft, a third-degree felony, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a first-degree misdemeanor.
