Deputies: Uber rider attacks driver, damages car over cocaine use dispute

Sancia Beckford is facing charges over alleged violence and property damage during an Uber ride.

TAMARAC, Fla. — A 27-year-old woman recently attacked a man who was working as an Uber Driver after he asked her to stop snorting cocaine in his car in Broward County, according to Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies.

The driver reported picking up a woman, who deputies later identified as Sancia Beckford, on Feb. 25 at the Publix at 8245 North Pine Island Road in Tamarac, according to an arrest report.

“I am going to stick it in your head [expletive],” Beckford told the driver while threatening to stab him with a black pen, a deputy wrote, according to the arrest report.

Deputies questioned her on April 8. Beckford, who was born in Jamaica and lives in Lauderdale Lakes, admitted that she spat at the driver, who didn’t want her to open the window.

Beckford denied trying to stab him, according to BSO deputies.

The driver reported that Beckford hit and punched him before he was able to stop, get out of the car, and call 911 for help, as she continued with his car, according to the BSO deputy’s arrest report.

The victim said Beckford caused more than $4,480 in damages when she kicked and hit his Cadillac XT6. Beckford faced three charges: Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, battery, and criminal mischief. Her case remained pending on Monday.
