A 66-year-old man who works as a security guard stands accused of trying to kill his wife twice on Friday in Miami-Dade County, records show.
Fael Francois placed a pillow over the woman’s head as she slept, and after she was able to fight back and get away, he tried to shoot her, according to a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputy’s arrest report.
“Today, you are going to die,” Francois told the victim while pointing the gun at her head, according to the deputy’s arrest report.
Francois, who was born in Haiti, “pulled the trigger,” but “did not have the magazine inserted in the firearm, therefore, no round was fired,” a deputy wrote, according to the report.
The woman was able to leave the house and hide behind a shed in their backyard, where she called 911 for help, according to the deputy’s arrest report.
Deputies detained Francois and arrested him at 1 a.m. on Saturday at the M-DSO Northside District Station, according to the arrest report.
Corrections booked him at 2:25 a.m. at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where he remained on Monday afternoon, according to inmate records.
Francois faced five charges in two new cases, according to Miami-Dade County court records. Francois faced a charge of resisting arrest without violence.
In the domestic violence case, Francois faced charges of attempted murder with a firearm, aggravated assault with a firearm, aggravated battery, and battery. A judge denied him bond on the attempted murder charge.
