MIAMI — A 35-year-old woman from Las Vegas faced charges on Monday in Miami-Dade County after she was accused of stealing more than $80,000 from a man in 2024 in Miami, records show.
Deputies arrested Cassandra Thompson, also known as Cassandra Costentine, at 10:20 p.m. on Friday at Miami International Airport on a pending Miami-Dade arrest warrant, records show.
A man had reported meeting Thompson on Dec. 11, 2024, at Gekko in Miami’s Brickell area, and welcoming her to his apartment, where she served him vodka, according to the arrest warrant.
“The victim recalled feeling unwell after he was served the beverage prepared by the subject,” a police officer wrote, according to the warrant. “He believed he lost consciousness or was so impaired that it caused him to be unresponsive.”
Surveillance video provided by the man showed Thompson “taking the victim’s phone and walking into the bedroom,” a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office detective wrote, according to the arrest warrant.
The victim accused Thompson of stealing $10,000 in cash from his bedroom and of using his cell phone to steal more than $72,840 in cryptocurrency and $1,225 from Venmo, according to the warrant.
Miami-Dade corrections booked Thompson shortly after 12:25 a.m. on Saturday at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, according to inmate records.
Thompson faced four charges: Third-degree grand theft, money laundering unlawful proceeds, unlawful use of a communications device, and a computer offense involving fraud.
