A witness who also lived in the house in the Boulevard Heights neighborhood told police officers that “he had been consuming alcohol” with Andres Perez and Pedrom Matom in his bedroom since about 1 a.m., on Sunday, according to the warrant.

Since Perez and Matom wouldn’t stop arguing, the witness said he asked them both to leave his bedroom near North 72nd Avenue and McKinley Street, according to the arrest warrant.

Witnesses reported hearing “what sounded like a physical altercation and a door slamming,” seeing Matom “run out” of the house, and “blood on the wall leading” into Perez’s bedroom, according to the warrant.

A witness found Perez “faced down on the floor inside the bedroom bleeding from his arm and torso,” a police officer wrote, according to the warrant.

Police officers responded to the house at 7:45 a.m. on Sunday and found Matom nearby holding a Heineken beer, and wearing a white T-shirt that was stained with “a significant amount of blood,” according to police.

A doctor pronounced Perez dead at about 8:25 a.m. on Sunday at the Memorial Regional Hospital, according to police officers.

Matom allegedly “showed no emotion” when police officers told him Perez was dead, according to the arrest warrant.

Corrections held Matom without bond at the Broward County Main Jail on Monday afternoon in Fort Lauderdale, according to inmate records.

Matom faced a charge of second-degree murder. Broward County Circuit Judge Frank Ledee was set to preside over the case.
