The FBI reported the sniper’s ammunition had “ANTI-ICE” written messages. The suspect who fired at a transport van and at the building from the roof of a neighboring building was identified as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn.

“The shooter fired indiscriminately at the ICE building, including at a van in the sallyport where the victims were shot,” a Homeland Security spokesperson wrote in a statement.

Edwin Cardona, a Venezuelan migrant, told the Associated Press that he was walking into the ICE building at about 6:20 a.m. in Dallas when he heard gunshots.

The Dallas Fire-Rescue personnel, Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux, the medical examiner’s office, ATF, and FBI agents responded.

Jahn died at the scene, and the two who were injured were hospitalized. The Dallas Morning News reported that a representative from the Mexican Consulate General in Dallas said one of the victims injured was born in Mexico.

“We know that our ICE law enforcement is facing unprecedented violence against them. It must stop,” Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem wrote on X.
