DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – Jacob Taylor was working in the Florida Everglades. The journeyman lineman was up over 100 feet when the crane he was on collapsed, and he fell into a marsh area. A Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue team found him alive after the fall on Jan. 22, near U.S. Highway 27.

A helicopter pilot flew Taylor to Broward Health North in Deerfield Beach to be treated for traumatic injuries. He was in the intensive care unit for about a month. On Sunday, the Broward Sheriff’s Office announced that Taylor was finally going home.

Before his release, Taylor was able to thank the first responders — a group from Weston, West Park, the Everglades, and BSFR regional personnel — who helped to save his life. BSO shared photos. One included over 15 in uniform.

Taylor will continue to need help to recover. Erika Vaughn — who organized a fundraiser on behalf of Taylor’s wife, Madison Taylor — wrote on a GoFundMe page that he is a father of two.

“We are asking everyone to please support this family,” Vaughn wrote.
