Trump answers questions during meeting with Philippine leader

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump answered reporters’ questions during his meeting with Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday at the White House.

Trump said Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell has “done a bad job” and criticized him for not making a rate cut since December.

“He’s too late all the time. He should have lowered interest rates many times,” Trump said. “People aren’t able to buy a house because this guy is a numbskull. He keeps the rates too high

Powell started a four-year term on Feb. 5, 2018, for a four-year term as chair and was reappointed for a second term on May 23, 2022.

“Eight months, he will be out,” Trump said.

The Trump administration also announced the U.S. withdrawal from UNESCO over the agency’s support of “woke, divisive cultural and social causes” and discussed Trump’s push to change the Washington Commanders to its former name.

The Trump administration also released the FBI case files on the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. On Instagram, Bernice King shared a photo of her father showing an expression of annoyance.

“Now, do the Epstein files,” she wrote in the caption.

The Trump administration reported communicating with Ghislaine Maxwell’s attorneys. She was convicted in 2021 and sentenced to 20 years in prison for crimes related to her relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.
