WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump was in Los Angeles on Tuesday when he answered a question about whether or not his administration will be supporting Israel’s next stage of the war against Hamas.

In Washington, Tammy Bruce, a spokeswoman for the State Department, said the U.S. is focused on freeing the hostages and recovering the remains of two Americans.

“We are there now trying to get people fed,” Trump said. “So, that’s what I’m focused on, as far as the rest of it, I really, I really can’t say, that’s going to be pretty much up to Israel.”

In Jerusalem, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office reported his meeting with Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir and other senior security officials.

Reports followed that Netanyahu favored a full occupation of the Gaza Strip. Trump was back at the White House on Tuesday night.
