MIAMI SHORES, Fla. — U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the first Jewish woman elected to Congress from Florida, has served in the U.S. House for over 21 years.
U.S. Rep. Frederica Wilson, known for her hundreds of bold hats and mentorship programs, has served in Congress for 15 years.
Both Democrats have been reelected through years of Florida’s several rounds of redistricting maps. But that could change with Gov. Ron DeSantis’s new Florida Congressional Districting map.

“The district I represent now is a pretty clean rectangle in South Broward. I represent 10 cities ... I will be running in a district where ... I will have an opportunity and the privilege to continue to represent my constituents in South Florida,” Wasserman Schultz, a former Democratic National Committee chairwoman, said about Florida’s 25th Congressional District.
Wilson, a Democrat from Miami’s Liberty City, represents Florida’s 24th Congressional District. After the 2010 U.S. Census, the district included North Miami, Miami Gardens, Opa-locka, and Miami Shores.

On Wednesday, Florida’s Republican-controlled legislature passed a new congressional map that Gov. Ron DeSantis is preparing to sign. Florida’s 24th Congressional District still includes Miami Shores, but it now includes areas of Broward County.
The new map also changed District 20, which has been vacant since Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick resigned on April 21, 2026, after an ethics inquiry.
President Donald Trump, who pushed for redistricting before the midterms, recently celebrated the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling on the Voting Rights Act provisions that had supported District 20.
