NEW YORK — During his speech on Wednesday morning at the United Nations General Assembly, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on world leaders to stop Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Zelenskyy said Ukraine will open up arms exports, and he warned that Putin is seeking a war expansion.

“Stopping Putin now is cheaper than trying to protect every port and every ship from terrorists with sea drones. Stopping Russia now is cheaper than wondering who will be the first to create a simple drone carrying a nuclear warhead,” Zelenskyy said.

The Ukrainian president said Russian drones were flying across Europe and Russian operations were expanding to other countries.

“We are now living through the most destructive arms race in human history, because this time, it includes Artificial Intelligence,” Zelenskyy said.

The Ukrainian president said Russia had violated Estonian and Polish airspace, and Moldova was defending itself from Russian interference.

“The E.U. needs to help Moldova now with funding,” Zelenskyy said.

Zelenskyy said Georgia is dependent on Russia and Belarus “has been losing itself to Russia.” Zelenskyy also described his time on Tuesday with President Donald Trump as a “good meeting.”

Trump wrote on social media that Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, was in a position to win back all of its territory.

“Russia has been fighting aimlessly for three and a half years a War that should have taken a Real Military Power less than a week to win,” Trump wrote. “This is not distinguishing Russia. In fact, it is very much making them look like ‘a paper tiger.’”

During his U.N. speech, Trump asked the E.U. to stop buying Russian oil and advocated for a “very strong round of powerful tariffs” that would “stop the bloodshed, I believe, very quickly.”
