MIAMI — Surveillance videos show a 33-year-old man with his one-year-old Dutch Shepherd named “Buzz” on April 5 in Miami’s Edgewater neighborhood.

Officer Kenia Fallat, a Miami Police Department spokeswoman, said the videos were recorded at Missoni Baia, at 777 NE 26th Terrace.

“Kudos to the staff at the building who immediately called us, and we began our investigation,” Fallat said.

One video showed Nicholas Jabbour “slammed the dog with force” twice before exiting the elevator, according to a Miami police officer’s arrest report.

Another video showed Jabbour grab the dog and grab “Buzz” before throwing him to the ground again, according to the police officer’s report.

“Security here at the condo told police there were previous incidents with Jabbour before this one, including his dog urinating in a hallway and another elevator,” Fallat said.

The Miami-Dade Animal Services took custody of “Buzz,” and the dog was in good health, according to police. Police officers arrested Jabbour on April 10.

“It took a couple of days for us to track him down, but we were fortunate enough to find him,” Fallat said about the suspect.

Jabbour pleaded not guilty to aggravated animal cruelty, a third-degree felony. His bond was $5,000. His next trial hearing is at 9:15 a.m. on Sept. 14, according to Miami-Dade court records.

Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Ariel Rodriguez has been presiding over Jabbour’s case.
