DAVIE, Fla. – Miami Dolphins rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is having a rough week.

He was benched during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 20-13 loss to the Denver Broncos, and on Wednesday Tua showed up on Miami’s injury report.

According to the team, Tagovailoa is dealing with an injury to the thumb on his left hand, his throwing hand, and was limited during Wednesday’s practice. He was one of five Dolphins players to appear on the injury report.

Not participating in practice were running back Salvon Ahmed and guard Solomon Kindley. Ahmed is suffering from a shoulder injury while Kindley has been dealing with an injured foot.

Limited in Wednesday’s practice were defensive tackle Raekwon Davis (thumb) and linebacker Kyle Van Noy (hip).

There was some good injury news on Wednesday, though.

Defensive tackle Christian Wilkins participated in practice for the first time since being placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list two weeks ago.

Wilkins missed Miami’s Week 10 win over the Los Angeles Charges as well as Sunday’s loss in Denver.

Getting back on the practice field is a big step towards Wilkins suiting up on Sunday when the Dolphins travel to New Jersey for an AFC East rivalry matchup with the New York Jets.

Miami still has two players on the Reserve/COVID-19 list; offensive tackle Jesse Davis and practice squad wide receiver Matt Cole.
