Formula 1 extended its agreement Friday with promoter South Florida Motorsports, keeping the race on the calendar through 2041 — the longest deal of any race currently on the schedule.

The exact terms of the deal has not been disclosed.

Since debuting in 2022, the Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix has become a global draw, combining high-speed racing with big-name entertainment and making a major splash locally. Over its first three years, the event has generated more than $1 billion in economic impact for South Florida.

Organizers have also launched internship programs, supported local charities and promoted small businesses in the area.

South Florida Motorsports was named Formula 1’s 2024 Promoter of the Year for its continued efforts to deliver what F1 calls an “incredible sporting and entertainment event.”

A record 275,000 fans attended this year’s race weekend at the Miami International Autodrome, where McLaren’s Lando Norris earned his first Formula 1 win.

The event also drew 3.1 million U.S. viewers — the sport’s biggest television audience ever in the country.

The 5.41-kilometer track, built around Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, features 19 corners and three long straights, with top speeds hitting 320 km/h.

Max Verstappen won the first two races in 2022 and 2023, before Norris took the checkered flag this year.

In other heartwarming news, Verstappen announced the birth of his daughter, Lily, in an Instagram post.

“In just three years, the Miami Grand Prix has established itself as one of the most important and spectacular events on our calendar,” said Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1 in a news release on Friday. “An extraordinary example of quality and vision that truly represents the spirit and ambition of Formula 1 in the United States.”
