FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Florida Panthers are on the road again, heading to Edmonton to face the Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final starting Wednesday night.
Sky 10 captured video Tuesday of the Panthers boarding their plane at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, where fans gathered to cheer them on before the big series.
“It always rains when they fly up to Edmonton. I think it is good luck,” one fan said.
The Panthers held one last practice Monday in Fort Lauderdale before departing for Rogers Place in Edmonton, where Games 1 and 2 will be played.
This year, unlike last season’s Stanley Cup Final, the Panthers start on the road with hopes of becoming back-to-back champions in a Final rematch.
The Stanley Cup Final schedule has Game 1 on Wednesday night and Game 2 on Friday night in Edmonton. The series then moves to South Florida with Game 3 set for Monday, June 9, and Game 4 on June 12, both games played at FLA Live Arena in Sunrise.
Fans across South Florida are eager for the rematch between these two teams, with media day planned in Edmonton on Tuesday to kick off the series.
The Panthers are chasing their second consecutive Stanley Cup title as they look to bring another championship back home to South Florida.
