MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Miami Dolphins cornerback Artie Burns is feared to have suffered a torn ACL after injuring his knee during practice Wednesday, according to multiple reports.

Burns, a veteran who signed with the Dolphins earlier this offseason, left practice on crutches.

He appeared to go down early in the session, possibly during the stretching period.

He is awaiting an MRI and a second opinion to confirm the severity of the injury, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The injury adds to a tough start to training camp for Miami, which also saw offensive tackle Bayron Matos airlifted to the hospital after going down during practice.

The team said the incident occurred near the end of the session.

The exact nature of Matos’ injury has not been disclosed, but Miami-Dade Fire Rescue confirmed the 24-year-old was in stable condition after being transported to a local trauma center.

Meanwhile, Burns’ potential loss further depletes a cornerback unit that has already seen turnover.

The Dolphins traded Jalen Ramsey to the Pittsburgh Steelers last month and opted not to re-sign veteran Kendall Fuller.

Miami may now look to free agency to bolster their secondary.
