ATLANTA — The Miami Marlins, fresh off a winning homestand capped by a sweep of the New York Yankees, now face their biggest test of the 2025 season: an 11-game, three-city road trip.
The trip begins with a five-game series against the Atlanta Braves, including a doubleheader on Saturday, before the Marlins head to Progressive Field for three games with the Cleveland Guardians.
The trip wraps up with a three-game weekend series at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox, who sit four games behind the first-place Toronto Blue Jays in the American League East.
Miami (56-57) will open the trip with right-handed pitcher Eury Pérez on the mound.
Pérez, 22, tossed six scoreless innings in his last outing against the Yankees at loanDepot park, lowering his season ERA to 2.70 across 10 starts.
Surprisingly, the Marlins enter Thursday with a nine-game lead over the Braves in the National League East standings.
The two clubs have faced each other only twice this season, each winning once in April before the third game was postponed due to inclement weather – leading to Saturday’s doubleheader at Truist Park.
Miami, with 49 games remaining in the regular season, are fighting for the final Wild Card spot, currently being held by the New York Mets (63-52).
The Marlins sit six games behind and eight-and-a-half games out of first place in their division.
The team returns home to loanDepot park on Aug. 18 to begin a nine-game homestand, welcoming the St. Louis Cardinals, Toronto Blue Jays and Atlanta Braves once again.
