MIAMI — Miami Marlins outfielder Jakob Marsee has been named the National League Rookie of the Month for August, Major League Baseball announced Wednesday.
Marsee, 24, is the first Marlin to earn the honor since Trevor Rogers in 2021 and just the 11th player in franchise history to do so.
He debuted Aug. 1 against the Yankees and quickly made an impact, reaching base four times in his first game — a club first.
In 30 games last month, the Michigan native hit .352 with 11 doubles, three triples, four home runs and 25 RBIs.
He led all NL rookies in several categories, including batting average, on-base percentage, slugging, OPS, runs, hits and stolen bases. His 25 RBIs were the most by a National League rookie in any month this season.
Marsee’s highlights included a franchise record-tying seven-RBI performance Aug. 13 at Cleveland, when he notched his first multi-homer game and a career-high four hits in a 13-4 win over the Guardians.
