MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel spoke to reporters Wednesday, providing injury updates on star wide receiver Tyreek Hill and other team matters following the Dolphins’ first win of the season.

The Dolphins held off the New York Jets 27-21 Monday night, but the victory came with mixed emotions after Hill was hospitalized Tuesday morning.

Hill suffered a knee injury in the third quarter while catching a first-down pass along the sideline. Teammates and trainers surrounded him as he held his left leg in pain before being carted off the field.

“Tyreek is doing well and on the long road to recovery,” McDaniel said. “He’ll remain in the hospital as a precaution and receive the finest care.”

With Hill out for the season, McDaniel said wide receiver Jaylen Waddle will assume the No. 1 role, and Malik Washington has operated as the de facto top receiver while Waddle and Hill were recovering from injuries.

“There were some opportunities that he got, some routes that he might not have gotten with Tua (Tagovailoa), and that has helped him become someone that we feature in our offense,” McDaniel said of Washington. “At every juncture, he has risen to the occasion.”

McDaniel also addressed the addition of Cedrick Wilson, praising his “consistency and play-making ability” and noting that Wilson can contribute both with and without the ball.

He said Wilson underwent a “minor procedure” this week and will not practice, but McDaniel said he intends to return next week.

McDaniel also highlighted defensive tackle Zach Sieler, who rebounded from a costly roughing-the-kicker penalty in Week 3’s 31-21 loss to Buffalo, to make impactful plays against the Jets.

“For him, a guy that is our signature captain about how you go about your business, he led by example and did an unbelievable job sticking to the scheme,” McDaniel said.

A report from South Florida sports radio host Andy Slater said the misdemeanor battery charge against outside linebackers coach Ryan Crow has been dropped.

Crow, 37, was arrested in late August in Fort Lauderdale in connection with a domestic battery incident involving a woman.

McDaniel said Crow will remain on indefinite leave.

“No status change with the team. We won’t address that until the league is done with its investigation,” he said.
