MIAMI — The Miami Heat wrapped up their second day of training camp Wednesday at Florida Atlantic University, with some familiar faces stopping by.
Former Heat guard Goran Dragic has been around the team this week, lending his presence as players gear up for Saturday’s preseason opener vs. the Orlando Magic in Puerto Rico.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said he even tried to convince Dragic to join his staff.
“I tried to recruit him to the coaching staff, and wisely he said no,” Spoelstra said. “But he does want to help, he does want to be involved, so we’re just working with him right now to find out what the best fit will be.”
Also spotted courtside in crutches was Florida Panthers captain Aleksander “Sasha” Barkov, who is recovering from offseason knee surgery.
Barkov chatted with Heat players and spent time with Alonzo Mourning and forward Norman Powell during practice.
The Heat continue camp with the Panthers chasing a third straight Stanley Cup — this time starting the season without their star captain.
