MIAMI — The Miami Heat announced Saturday that guard Jahmir Young has been signed to a two-way contract.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, per team policy.
Young spent last season on a two-way contract with the Chicago Bulls, splitting time between Chicago and their G League affiliates, the Grand Rapids Gold and Windy City Bulls.
In 30 G League games, he averaged 21.5 points, 7.1 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 2.0 steals, scoring 20 20-point games, including four 30-point performances and a season-high 40 points on Feb. 12.
He also appeared in six NBA games with Chicago, totaling 11 points, six assists and three rebounds.
Young played in four preseason games with Miami, averaging 9.0 points, 2.3 assists, 1.5 rebounds and 1.25 steals in 18.8 minutes per game while shooting 44.8% from the field, 50% from three-point range and a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line.
The Heat also announced they have waived forward Precious Achiuwa, forward Dain Dainja, guard Bez Mbeng and guard Ethan Thompson.
Achiuwa appeared in four preseason games, averaging 4.8 points and 5.3 rebounds. Dainja played in two preseason games, averaging 4.5 points and 2.0 rebounds. Mbeng did not appear in a preseason game, while Thompson averaged 6.4 points, 2.2 assists and 2.0 rebounds in five games.
Miami lost 141-125 to the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday, finishing the preseason 0-6.
The Heat open the regular season Wednesday against the Orlando Magic at the Kia Center.
