FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Inter Miami’s former starting goalkeeper, Drake Callender, was traded to Charlotte FC on Wednesday.
Tom Bogert of GiveMeSport first broke the news on X.
Bogert said Callender was surprised by the trade and wasn’t consulted in the process.
Callender, 27, was the starting goalkeeper when the Herons won the 2023 Leagues Cup title and the record-breaking 2024 MLS Supporters’ Shield.
He has been sidelined for most of the 2025 season after undergoing sports hernia surgery in April.
Callender was the last remaining player from Inter Miami’s original 2020 roster. He played in a club-record 118 games.
Another player departing the club is Federico Redondo.
The Argentine midfielder is joining LaLiga’s Elche on a permanent transfer.
Soccer journalist César Luis Merlo reported Redondo was sold for a $2.5 million transfer fee.
Redondo, 22, recorded two goals and four assists in 60 appearances across all competitions for Inter Miami.
He was also part of the roster that broke the MLS record for most points in a single season.
