DETRIOT — Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel spoke with reporters following the team’s 24-17 victory over the Detroit Lions at Ford Field in their second preseason game.

McDaniel provided an update on running back De’Von Achane and defensive tackle Zach Sieler — both of whom did not dress for Saturday’s game.

“Nothing from the last time we spoke. I’m going to get back in town and better assess the time frames between days and weeks, but not too long,” McDaniel said. “Both of them we are going to reassess when we get back to Miami,” he added.

The Dolphins kick off the 2025 regular season Sept. 7 against the Indianapolis Colts, and McDaniel said he feels confident both players will return in time for Week 1.

Cornerback Ethan Bonner, who is competing for a starting role in the secondary, left Saturday’s game early due to an injury.

“Appears to be [a] hamstring, don’t know the severity. We’ll check on it when we get back,” McDaniel said.

Already extremely thin at cornerback following the losses of Artie Burns, Kader Kohou and Jason Maitre, the Dolphins can’t afford to lose Bonner for an extended period.

Miami’s final preseason game is Aug. 23 against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Hard Rock Stadium.
