MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The million-dollar question all Miami Dolphins fans are anxious to have answered ahead of Saturday’s preseason finale against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Hard Rock Stadium: Will quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and the rest of the offensive starters see the field?

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel spoke with local reporters on Thursday ahead of the team’s only joint practice with the Jaguars.

“The starters know that they will be – my plan is for them to appear. What that looks like, the length of that will kind of be determined by today’s practice and then I’ll meet with the coaching staff right after and then tell the players a little more definitively what that looks like, but they have been recently told that they will appear. That had been my plan,” McDaniel said.

In the preseason opener against the Chicago Bears, Tagovailoa played 16 snaps, while running back De’Von Achane played nine, and wide receiver Malik Washington was on the field for seven snaps.

Wide receivers Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill have not been active for the team’s first two preseason games – as both continue working their way back from injuries.

Tagovailoa responded to McDaniel’s remarks about the possibility of seeing a lot of the starting unit in the preseason finale on Saturday.

“That’ll be a great opportunity. Great opportunity, hopefully we get to get (Jaylen) Waddle out there. Just get him back in his routine, his game day routine. The feel of hearing the first play, going out running the plays and then you know there’s other guys as well,” Tagovailoa told reporters.

Tagovailoa did not play in Miami’s second exhibition game against the Detroit Lions. Quarterback Zach Wilson took snaps under center for the first half, and rookie Quinn Ewers, who threw two touchdown passes to wide receiver Theo Wease Jr., finished the remainder of the game.

Kickoff at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET.
