MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Miami Dolphins running back De’Von Achane was named to the Pro Bowl on Tuesday after rushing for a career-high 1,267 yards and 12 touchdowns, averaging 5.8 yards per carry in only his third NFL season.
Achane ranks third in the league in rushing, providing a bright spot in an otherwise challenging season for the Dolphins.
It’s the first Pro Bowl appearance for the 24-year-old’s impressive career.
Meanwhile, linebacker Jordyn Brooks, who led the league with 93 solo tackles while also recording 3.5 sacks and 1 forced fumble, was left off the starting Pro Bowl roster but listed as an alternate.
Three more Dolphins were named Pro Bowl alternates this year: fullback Alec Ingold (first), safety Minkah Fitzpatrick (third), and wide receiver Jaylen Waddle (third).
The Dolphins have struggled this season, falling to 6-9 after a 45-21 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, but Achane’s Pro Bowl selection offers a measure of optimism for the team as they look toward next season.
Up next:
Miami wlll host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-8) at Hard Rock Stadium at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
