WASHINGTON — The Florida Panthers made a very special visit on Thursday.
Florida made a stop in Washington D.C. ahead of Friday’s game at the Carolina Hurricanes to take a little trip to the White House.
After winning their second straight Stanley Cup last June, the Panthers brought the historic trophy back to D.C. for a visit with President Donald Trump.
It was less than a year ago that the Panthers made their first championship visit to the White House, and now they have become one of the rare teams who had the opportunity to go twice in a row.
Last year, Panthers owner Vincent Viola, team captain Sasha Barkov and forward Matthew Tkachuk were among those who spoke at the event.
This year, Viola once again addressed the president, presenting him with a pair of Stanley Cup Championship rings.
The Panthers also presented Trump with a special stick and a customized, personalized jersey, similarly to last year.
The visit took place at 4 p.m. inside the East Room of the White House.
