WASHINGTON — The Florida Panthers are making a very special visit on Thursday.
Florida will make a stop in Washington D.C. ahead of Friday’s game at the Carolina Hurricanes to take a little trip to the White House.
After winning their second straight Stanley Cup last June, the Panthers are bringing the historic trophy back to D.C. for a visit with President Donald Trump.
It was less than a year ago that the Panthers made their first championship visit to the White House, and now they’ll become one of the rare teams who have the opportunity to go twice in a row.
Last year, Panthers owner Vincent Viola, team captain Sasha Barkov and forward Matthew Tkachuk were among those who spoke at the event.
The Panthers also presented Trump with a special stick and a customized, personalized jersey.
The visit is scheduled to take place at 4 p.m. inside the East Room.
