FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Sitting 10 points out of a playoff spot with 21 games remaining in the 2025-26 season, the Florida Panthers (30-28-3) have made it clear they will be sellers ahead of Friday’s 3 p.m. ET trade deadline.
The first move came Thursday, when the Panthers sent defenseman Jeff Petry to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for a conditional 2026 seventh-round pick.
The pick could become a fifth-round selection if Minnesota wins two playoff series and Petry plays in 50% or more of the Wild’s playoff games in those rounds, according to the Wild’s release announcing the trade.
Petry, 38, appeared in 58 games with Florida this season, recording eight assists after signing as an unrestricted free agent in the offseason following two seasons with the Detroit Red Wings.
He appeared in his 1,000th career game Nov. 17 against the Vancouver Canucks, becoming the 14th player to reach the milestone while playing for the Panthers.
The Panthers continue their four-game road trip Thursday at 7 p.m. ET against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
