MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Forty-eight hours after the Miami Dolphins released Alec Ingold following four seasons with the team, the fullback has quickly found a new home.
The Los Angeles Chargers and Ingold have agreed to a two-year, $7.5 million deal that reunites him with former Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, now the Chargers’ offensive coordinator, according to reports.
Ingold’s $3.75 million APY ties him as the highest-paid fullback in the NFL, according to league insider Tom Pelissero.
Ingold scored two touchdowns in four seasons with the club and became an important piece in the blocking game in McDaniel’s scheme while serving as a veteran voice in the locker room.
The deal comes three days before the new league year and free agency begins at 4 p.m. ET.
Under new general manager Jon‑Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley, Ingold joins wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Nick Westbrook‑Ikhine, outside linebacker Bradley Chubb, guards James Daniels and Liam Eichenberg, and kicker Jason Sanders in being released. The team also announced Monday that they were releasing quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
