JUPITER, Fla. — One week from today, the Miami Marlins will open their 2026 season at loanDepot park.
On Friday, Clayton McCullough announced the team’s five-man rotation, in order, prior to their spring training matchup with the Houston Astros.
The rotation begins with right-hander Sandy Alcantara, set to make his sixth Opening Day start for the Marlins.
Following Alcantara, Eury Pérez is slated to start, with McCullough expressing confidence he will take the next step on the mound.
The Marlins will turn to Max Meyer as their No. 3 starter, a positive sign in his continued progress post-Tommy John surgery.
Rounding out the No. 4 and No. 5 spots are right-hander Chris Paddack, whom the Marlins signed to a one-year deal in February, and Janson Junk, who beat out left-hander Braxton Garrett for the final spot.
In their only roster move on Friday, the Marlins sent Garrett to Triple-A Jacksonville.
“I will say this: It was very difficult, and in some ways, it’s a good thing that it was so difficult,” McCullough said.
Garrett missed the entire 2025 season after undergoing surgery on his throwing arm in December 2024.
“There’s a part of this looking out for the entire season,” McCullough said. “We’re going to need depth, and we’re going to need as many options as we can, and so Brax will start off in Triple-A and just continue to get built up and go pitch,” he added.
