MIAMI — Attempting to make a diving catch in left field, Miami Marlins outfielder Griffin Conine exited the sixth inning of Thursday’s series finale against the Cincinnati Reds at loanDepot park.
Conine appeared to be hobbling after getting up, as manager Clayton McCullough and a member of the Marlins’ training staff came onto the field to check on him before all three walked off together.
Conine was replaced by Heriberto Hernández.
The team announced Conine’s injury as left knee discomfort.
After the win, McCullough met with reporters and announced that Conine has left hamstring discomfort.
McCullough didn’t say whether Conine will go on the injured list, which would require a corresponding roster move.
Conine was 0-for-2 Thursday, as his averaged dipped down to .273.
He had two hits Wednesday, including a towering two-run home run in the Marlins’ 7-4 win.
Last season, Conine dislocated his left shoulder against the Philadelphia Phillies, an injury that required surgery.
He missed most of the season before making a late return in September.
The Marlins (8-5) open a six-game road trip Friday at 6:40 p.m. ET against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park.
