MIAMI — Storms in the forecast are already shaking things up for Formula 1 Miami.
Race organizers moved up the start time for Sunday’s main event to 1 p.m. in hopes of getting it in before expected lightning and storms move into the area.
Excitement was already building Saturday during the qualifying rounds, with loud engines and screeching tires filling the air near Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.
Drivers spent the afternoon competing for the top spot on the grid, all chasing that coveted pole position heading into race day.
Meanwhile, the Fan Fest at Lummus Park is still going strong for its final day. Fans can watch the action on giant TV screens, get up close to Formula 1 cars, test their skills on simulators and hear from race experts.
The event is free and runs from noon to 6 p.m. Organizers recommend bringing an umbrella and keeping an eye on the forecast.
