MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The Miami Dolphins held their first padded practice of training camp Monday at the Baptist Health Training Complex, offering a clearer look at several position battles and individual performances as the team continues preparing for the regular season.
Wide receiver Malik Washington continued one of the strongest camps of his career, connecting with quarterback Malik Willis on several explosive plays.

Washington, entering his third NFL season, hauled in multiple gains of more than 20 yards, including receptions after beating cornerbacks Chris Johnson and JuJu Brents on separate plays.
With wide receiver Tyreek Hill no longer on the roster after being released, Jaylen Waddle traded to the Denver Broncos and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine also released, Washington is competing for a much larger role in Miami’s offense and has emerged as one of Willis’ favorite targets early in camp.
The Dolphins also received another encouraging showing from running back Ollie Gordon II, who displayed improved burst and ran with a lower pad level on several runs between the tackles after saying that was an emphasis during his offseason training.
Defensively, EDGE Chop Robinson continued to flash.
Robinson, who finished the 2025 season with four sacks, recorded what would have been consecutive sacks after beating left tackle Patrick Paul during team drills. Robinson entered camp after adding weight, increasing from 254 pounds last season to 265 as he looks to improve his production in his third NFL season. Safety Omar Brown was also able to haul in the third interception of the day.
Linebacker Terrell Dodson recorded one of the day’s biggest defensive plays, intercepting a tipped pass from Willis that bounced off the hands of tight end Cole Turner. Cornerback Ethan Bonner added another takeaway later in practice with an interception of his own on quarterback Quinn Ewers.
The team’s biggest concern remained at right tackle.
Starting right tackle Austin Jackson was pulled after surrendering a pair of would-be sacks and did not return to the field. Jackson also lost a one-on-one battle to EDGE Robert Beal Jr. Tackle Charlie Heck replaced him but also struggled in pass protection, leaving the position as one of Miami’s biggest question marks heading deeper into training camp.
While right tackle remains unsettled, Jonah Savaiinaea continued to impress at right guard. The 22-year-old Arizona product held his own during one-on-one drills against defensive tackle Zach Sieler and turned in another strong practice.
Defensive tackle Zeke Biggers defeated offensive lineman Andrew Meyer during another rep. It’s been a solid camp for the Dolphins’ interior defensive linemen group.
Wide receiver AJ Henning, who dominated Sunday’s practice, created separation on a deep route against rookie cornerback Chris Johnson, but Willis’ pass sailed just out of reach near the sideline.
Johnson endured an up-and-down day, allowing several deep completions during one-on-one drills after recording an interception Sunday. Miami’s first-round rookie cornerback also struggled at times in coverage and will likely need to become more physical at the line of scrimmage by using his hands to disrupt receivers’ releases.
Wide receiver Jalen Tolbert briefly left practice after sustaining what appeared to be a lower-body injury during one-on-one drills. He returned later in the session.
Receiver Chris Bell continued his recovery work, doing light running with trainers away from team drills.
The Dolphins are scheduled to return to the practice field at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Baptist Health Training Complex.
