MIAMI — GasBuddy is among the free apps aiming to help drivers in the U.S. save on gas as prices continued to increase on Monday.
The app shows real-time gas prices at gas stations near the user. In the Apple App Store for iPhone, nearly 447,000 users rated it 4.7. In the Google Play store, 882,000 rated it at 3.2.
The GasBuddy app also offers an optional reloadable card with a “flash deals” program and a paid subscription to roadside assistance.
The Upside app has a cashback program. About 641,000 App Store users rated it 4.8, and about 432,000 Google Play users rated it 4.5.
NerdWallet recommends both the GasBuddy and Upside apps for gigworkers.
The Waze and Google Maps navigation apps also include features to help drivers find gas stations with prices submitted by users.
For travelers, AAA Mobile aims to help paid members with planning road trip stops. Google Play users rank it 4.6, and App Store users rank it 4.8.
With the conflict in the Middle East, experts expect gas prices to continue to increase.
