PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. — The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday cleared President Trump to end Temporary Protected Status for Venezuelans — a move that could affect most of the roughly 300,000 Venezuelans living and working in the United States under the program.
As that decision came down, the U.S. military carried out another fatal strike on a fourth vessel in the Caribbean that the president identified as drug traffickers, while calling Venezuela a dangerous place — a designation that would normally qualify Venezuelan nationals for TPS.
Local 10 News has been covering the shifting rules, political fallout, and humanitarian impact surrounding the program.
The focus now turns to what it means for South Florida — especially cities like Doral, where roughly four in every 10 residents are Venezuelan.
Manny Sarmiento, president and CEO of the Doral Chamber of Commerce, joined “This Week in South Florida” to discuss the issue and what the decision could mean for the local community.
