PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. — More than a thousand flights were cancelled this weekend as the government shutdown marks day 40.

Miami International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport are on the list of the big busy airports for cuts, cancellations and delays.

For the first time since the shutdown, senators are working through the weekend on a compromise to reopen the government, Florida Senators Rick Scott and Ashley Moody among them.
