PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. — We are living historic change in real time as South Florida’s public schools morph to meet increasing challenges, some of which are organic, and some have been imposed by state lawmakers.
More competition from private schools receiving public student funding, charter schools that can now share public school space rent-free, and declining enrollment means less funding for public schools.
Broward County Public Schools are in the process of meeting that moment while also dealing with years-delayed construction projects to renovate aging school facilities.
Howard Hepburn is the Broward Schools Superintendent and he joined “This Week in South Florida” host Glenna Milberg to discuss. Their conversation can be seen at the top of this page.
