PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. — Florida lawmakers are trying again to repeal what critics call a free kill law that blocks some families from going to the courts when loved ones are victims of medical malpractice.
Lawmakers did pass the repeal last session, only to see it vetoed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Florida remains the only state that limits those legal claims only for victims who are single adults over 25.
The house bill for the repeal is again ready for the floor, and the senate filed the companion bill last week.
Ed Salazar, who is fighting for the change after losing his 27-year-old son who was hospitalized after a car crash, joined “This Week in South Florida” host Glenna Milberg to discuss, and their conversation can be seen at the top of this page.
