PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. — Your Florida Power and Light bill now reflects your portion of the largest rate hike in history, which took effect last month.
Controversial throughout the year of public hearings that were required in the run-up to the hike, in the end, the public service commission did a settlement deal with FPL and its largest corporate customers, but not with you.
That’s one of the reasons that settlement is going to court.
The attorney appealing it to the Florida Supreme Court is the state’s public counsel, who has been arguing against the hike since the start on your behalf.
Walt Trierweiler heads the Florida Office of Public Counsel. He joined “This Week in South Florida” host Glenna Milberg to discuss, and their conversation can be seen at the top of this page.
