State Sen. Don Gaetz discusses FPL rate hike on TWISF

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. — Florida residents are currently paying a Florida Power and Light bill that includes the biggest rate hike in history.

It was and is also the most controversial bill, and it is currently being appealed in court.

You may be surprised to know that the public service commission that paved the way for the price hike did not consider whether homeowners would find it affordable.

They didn’t have to, by law.

State Sen. Don Gaetz, a Republican who represents parts of Northwest Florida, sponsored a bill to change that. He joined “This Week in South Florida” host Glenna Milberg to discuss, and their conversation can be seen at the top of this page.
