A law enforcement source confirmed to Local 10 News Tuesday that a male victim who was found shot to death Monday morning near an elementary school in Miami Gardens was just 17 years old.

Detectives are investigating a threat even though it did not require an evacuation of the related Broward County public school in Miramar, police said on Monday morning.

A high school in Miramar was evacuated Thursday morning after the school received a bomb threat, authorities confirmed.

An 18-year-old student at Everglades High School in Miramar was arrested after bringing a stun gun to school, authorities said.

A former teacher and athletic director at Everglades High School in Broward County is facing sexual battery charges in a case involving a former student.

MIRAMAR, Fla. – Everglades High School Principal Haleh Darbar confirmed Monday that one of the school’s beloved teachers had died. He was identified as Daniel Egnor, who taught social studies at the school in Miramar for eight years. “Our entire Everglades High School community mourns the loss of one of our beloved teachers, Daniel Egnor,” Darbar said in a statement that was released by Broward County Public Schools. We all grieve the loss of our beloved teacher, Mr. Egnor who had such passion for his students and teaching. Mr. Egnor encompasses what a great teacher and role model should be.

MIRAMAR, Fla. - A South Florida student has been arrested on suspicion of a gun to school. Police say the student attends Everglades High School. "It makes me feel concerned because instead of us knowing about it, we find out after the fact that something like this is happening, which is just not right," said Clara Hernandez, Everglades High parent. In a message sent out to parents and families of Everglades High School students, Principal Haleh Darber said that a report from a student led to the gun being found. Darber also said that there were never any threats made to the school, students or staff.

PLANTATION, Fla. - Although Broward County is no longer in the cone of Hurricane Dorian, three shelters will be open as a precaution. The three general population shelters are Atlantic Technical College's Arthur Ashe Jr. campus in Fort Lauderdale, Monarch High School in Coconut Creek and Everglades High School in Miramar. Although Broward County is not expected to be directly impacted by Dorian, there is a tropical storm watch in effect. "It's totally voluntary," Broward County Mayor Mark Bogen said. Broward County officials reminded residents who take advantage of the shelters that provisions are limited.

MIRAMAR, Fla. – Miramar Fire-Rescue Department firefighters responded to Everglades High School on Friday evening. Firefighters reported there was visible smoke coming from the school at 17100 SW 48th Ct., in Miramar. According to Lt. Jose Gregorisch the fire was in the boiler room, and no one was injured. Firefighters were investigating the cause of the fire. Local 10 News Marcine Joseph contributed to this report.
