Thirty Cuban migrants are now in the custody of the U.S. Border Patrol after making landfall Wednesday on the Marquesas Keys -- uninhabited islands west of Key West.

U.S. Border Patrol agents took custody of 26 Cuban migrants Friday who made landfall in the Marquesas Keys, Chief Patrol Agent Walter Slosar confirmed.

Federal authorities responded to several migrant landings in the middle and lower Florida Keys on Thanksgiving Day, sources tell Local 10 News.

The U.S. Border Patrol detained 41 Cuban migrants who arrived in the Florida Keys on Sunday, Chief Patrol Agent Walter N. Slosar confirmed on Monday.

Chief Patrol Agent Walter N. Slosar, who heads the Border Patrol’s Miami sector, tweeted that the migrants made landfall in a “rustic vessel” on an island in the Marquesas Keys, which are west of Key West.
