PALM BEACH, Fla. – A woman dancing on top of her Jeep outside The Breakers Palm Beach caught the attention of a Florida Highway Patrol trooper working a security detail at the luxury resort. (WPLG)Both checkpoints were manned by deputies and Secret Service agents, who fired several shots at the Jeep. We didn’t know if somebody was there to try to hit as many pedestrians as possible.ā€After authorities opened fire, the Jeep continued onto Southern Boulevard and crossed a bridge connecting Palm Beach to West Palm Beach. The rental Jeep was later found near Palm Beach International Airport at a Studio 6 motel, where she and another woman were taken into custody, Bradshaw said. Trump was scheduled to spend Super Bowl weekend at his Palm Beach estate.

Ron DeSantis has directed the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to take over a criminal investigation into the case of multimillionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who pleaded guilty 11 years ago to state prostitution charges and split his short sentence between jail and work release. DeSantis assigned the case to the state's attorney's office in a neighboring district to Palm Beach County. Epstein, 66, pleaded not guilty in July to federal charges of sex trafficking of minors and conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking. In late July he was found in his Manhattan jail cell with marks on his neck, a law enforcement source and a source familiar with the incident have told CNN. It was not clear to jail officials if the injuries were self-inflicted or the result of an assault, the law enforcement source said.

Ron DeSantis has asked the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to take over the investigation of disgraced Palm Beach financier Jeffrey Epstein. DeSantis sent a letter Tuesday to FDLE Commissioner Rick Swearingen requesting "a preliminary inquiry into misconduct and allegations that go beyond the reported concerns with Jeffrey Epstein's work release." DeSantis also issued an executive order reassigning the investigation from Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg to the 19th Judicial Circuit of Florida. "Floridians expect and deserve a full and fair investigation," DeSantis said. The governor's actions come after Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw sent him a letter formally requesting that the FDLE "assume the existing criminal investigation."

Sex trafficking suspect Jeffrey Epstein faced two of his victims in court who say he is a danger and shouldn't be released on bail. WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - An Internal Affairs investigation ordered by Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw will look into his deputies' supervision of multimillionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who is accused of inappropriate sexual contact during his 13-month jail sentence. Sheriff Bradshaw "wants to determine if any actions taken by the deputies assigned to monitor Epstein during his work release program violated any agency rules and regulations, during the time he was on PBSO work release program," according to a news release. During that time, victims' attorney Bradley Edwards alleged, Epstein was engaging in inappropriate sexual acts. Epstein pleaded not guilty earlier this month to charges of conspiracy of sex trafficking.
