A Flood Watch has been issued for most of South Florida through Wednesday morning.
The Flood Watch is in effect for all of Miami-Dade and Broward counties. The National Weather Service also issued a special weather statement for the Upper and Middle Keys as a strong thunderstorm passed through the area Tuesday morning with wind gusts up to 40 mph.
A developing area of low pressure will keep the heavy rain potential in place through Wednesday.
Scattered to numerous 1-3 inch rainfall amounts are expected Tuesday with isolated amounts of 3-5 inches.
Three-day totals isolated higher amounts nearing 6 inches.
Severe weather potential is low, but a risk is in place primarily for gusty winds in the strongest storms.
A spokesperson for Miami International Airport confirmed there were 242 flight delays and 117 flight cancellations Monday due to stormy weather. On Tuesday morning, the airport reported 12 cancellations and 22 delays.
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, meanwhile, had only one cancellation Tuesday morning and 10 delays in and out of FLL.
