Oct. 25: It’s shaping up to be a windy, warm, and at times showery weekend for South Florida

With Melissa churning and strengthening in the Caribbean and high pressure off the coast of the Carolinas the pressure gradient between the two systems will crank up winds to over 30 mph at times here locally.

Obviously, you’ll want to stay out of the water with a very high risk of rip currents out there and a high surf advisory as well through the weekend.

Otherwise, outside of a few passing showers, most of the weekend looks pretty nice, but it’ll be a bit toasty with highs well into the 80s.

The best chance of more widespread showers and storms will arrive on Monday, with a downward trend in rain after that through the rest of the week.

There are indications of a significant cold front arriving just in time for Halloween, something we’ll be tracking throughout next week.

While all eyes are on Melissa heading toward Jamaica, the forecast track takes it well east of SoFlo, so no direct impacts are expected here.
