January 27: Cooler temperatures to remain for much of this week

We are locked in below normal temperatures this week. Come Wednesday morning lows will cool into the upper 40s and lower 50s once again. With an increase in cloud cover and scattered showers building by the afternoon, high temperatures will only reach the mid-60s. Nonetheless temperatures will trend slightly milder into the lower 70s by Friday.

I am tracking a winter storm that is poised to move across the southeastern corner of the country. It could bring another round of wintry weather across the Carolinas, and its trailing front will bring showers and another blast of frigid air to Florida. It this pattern holds together; lows could reach the upper 30s and lower 40s. We haven’t seen this type of cold since 2010. Stay tuned to the latest forecast.
