South Florida is in a colder-than-normal pattern, and even colder weather is on the way this weekend. Thursday and Friday will be brighter with more sunshine, but mornings will still start off chilly. Expect morning temperatures mainly in the upper 50s to low 60s for Miami-Dade and Broward, and a bit milder in the Keys.
Afternoon highs will be pleasant, generally in the low-to-mid 70s. On Friday, a weak system could bring a few passing showers, but most of the day will remain dry before winds turn northwest ahead of a much stronger cold front.
That stronger cold front arrives Saturday afternoon and sets the stage for a potentially historic cold snap late this weekend. Early Sunday, Monday, and possibly Tuesday mornings could be unusually cold, with lows in the 30s and wind chills falling into the 20s across the region. This stretch of cold could rival the coldest South Florida has experienced since December 2010, making preparation important even in typically warm coastal areas.
