A Flood Watch is in effect for the east coast metros until 10 p.m. Tuesday. This includes Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties.

A deep plume of moisture and a stalled front nearby will bring rounds of heavy rain and thunderstorms to South Florida through Wednesday. Some areas in Miami-Dade and Broward could pick up several inches of rain — with isolated totals up to 6 inches — leading to localized flooding, especially in poor drainage areas. A Flood Watch is in effect, and while not everyone will see the heaviest rain, some neighborhoods could deal with water-covered roads and slow travel.

At the same time, winds will increase out of the northeast, becoming gusty along the coast Tuesday into Wednesday. This will create dangerous rip currents and rough marine conditions, making the Atlantic hazardous for swimmers and boaters. While rain chances begin to ease later in the week, breezy coastal conditions may linger for a bit.
