FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Fort Lauderdale police investigated a quintuple shooting in one of the city’s nightlife districts early Sunday morning.
According to police, it happened at around 2 a.m. outside Dicey Riley’s Irish Pub at 217 SW Second St. in the Himmarshee Village area.
“It sounded a little more rapid,” local DJ Jordan Seitz, who goes by “Lyrikill,” said. “I’ve heard gunshots before, but those kind of came in multiple succession right after each other.”
Police said when officers arrived, they found the five wounded victims and quickly secured the scene.
Medics took the victims to a nearby hospital; police haven’t provided details about their conditions as of around 9 a.m. Sunday.
“I was so worried. I was running. I was shaking. I didn’t know what to do at that time,” witness Christian Ojeda said.
Video taken by a Local 10 News photojournalist showed detectives collecting a single Air Jordan shoe as part of their investigation.
Seitz said he’s hopeful shootings like this don’t become the norm in the area.
“It’s normally a fun time,” he said. “Definitely a lot more people over the years. It’s getting even more busier. You just have to keep your head on a swivel and be aware of your surroundings.”
Police haven’t released any details about any suspects.
